There's this joke that's been going around twitter in various forms the last couple of months. It's usually something to the effect of:
2016: Well, that was the worst year ever.
2017: ...Hold my beer.
A lot of people I know have had a really shitty year, and the background doom and gloom from Brexit and the rise and rise of fascism in the western world hasn't helped the general mood.
So when I look back on my year, I can't help but feel like I'm emerging from 2017 pretty unscathed. The greatest moments this year have been personal. My 9-year-old daughter showing amazing emotional maturity telling me, out of the blue, that she's proud of how she deals with friends than can be toxic. Football matches with my 7-year-old. Bedtime stories with my 3-year-old. A few days in Rome with the missus and without our kids.
But I've also put out so much work this year.
In no particular order, here's a little 2017 listicle.
